Deer Park (Jægersborg Dyrehave)

Friday 14th Sept:

Decided to go to the Deer Park (Jægersborg Dyrehave) with CL and Anthony today... since it's our free day... and we've never been there before... and it's one of the 20 Danish Gems of Nature...( at number 15!)

Weixian (the other NTU guy) went to the park with some other friends (cycling there...) so CL had no choice but to walk with us there... LOL!!

It was a long walk there... took about... maybe near 2 hrs?? well given the fact that it's quite some distance away... and that we do not know exactly how to walk there.. it's quite fast....

On the way to the park... saw an open field... and there are 3 horses running on the field... CL started to make the tsk tsk tsk sound to attract the horses... well.. i tot it was kinda idoitic.. cos i dun think the horses will react to that.. =X haha... then i found a carrot on the floor... i took it up and wave it a bit... and he 3 horses came running towards me!!! -.-

after attracting them here.. we took alot of photos with them.. LOL! never got so upclose with horses b4 ma... we all urban kia..(urban kids) :)



After we past the horses... saw some flowers by the road side and decided to take a shot of it..



Quite like macro pictures sometimes... the focus on the small things in life just give a totally different feeling.. :)


Well.. more roads to walk.. and finally we reach the gate of the Deer Park.. that's when our photo frenzy session start... it started off with us trying to take a timer photo... then continued to harass joggers to take photos for us... wahahahah!

This is a very nice place... very peaceful feeling... (afterall majority of the 'things' here are deers...) quite like the large field, blue skies... coupled with the sunny weather... it makes the walk really very nice!!! (though we did horland a bit in the middle... thanx to CL wanting to see the 'river')

After walking a while, we realised the deers are all pretty far away... so our adventurous spirits urged us to go nearer... haha.. but well, deers are group animals.. so there's really alot of them clustering together..(male have horns!!! big ones..) so we didn't scare to approach too near to them... at a point.. CL exclaimed that the males are all getting alert... haha... probably because we are intruding to their territory... then we decided to retreat.. :(

nevertheless, we tried to do some funny photos... and well.. did the typical SMU post.. =X.. Reach for the skies~~~

We have seen our deers... tried to get upclose.. so we have fulfilled the 1st objective... now for the 2nd objective... to see the sea~ haha... :)

After walking for about 30 mins..(maybe more? cos we horland here..) we finally saw a glimpse of the sea!!! it was really nice... nothing like our East Coast beach... haha.. the sea seem so blue.. so wide... u can see wind turbines too!!! u see yacht.. canoe... it's really... a feeling of tranquility!!!! :)

started to walk back after walking by the sea for sometime... it's getting late and the sun seems to be setting and we would want to get out before the sun sets..(there's no lights there!!!) haha..

Trip to Deer Park... quite a nice experience... different from the normal tour cos we don't really know what we are looking out for..(except deers) the tour brouchres are all in Danish so we don't understand anything.. but well.. i enjoyed the trip alot... It was really a nice experience... to go to somewhere not too touristy... and just relax for the day.. :)

Updates...

Been quite sometime since i've updated... haha....

Quite busy with school..(not really that busy... but yea.. just felt like slacking.. LOL) was writing a draft for a group meeting for one of my module just now... (yes till 2 am!!! =/) still gotta try to finish some work for another group meeting on friday... and shi yao is coming over later today... (he just gonna sleep with my lights on while i burn the midnight oil... LOL)

Well, seems like i'm lagging a bit over here.. always tot that it would be a breeze.. but suddenly i realised that studying in NUS... my fundamentals are not well established... somehow.. i felt weak... not being able to compare with the students here... sigh.. is it NUS? or is it me??? lol...

Was doing some cooking.. and realise that we are short on grocery... as it is late.. we decided to just cook what we have... so i open the fridge(no freezer compartment) an tried to look for some food to cook... and naturally.. eggs is one of the item! here's our egg fresh from the fridge!

well it seems like even fridge here in denmark is cold... brrrrrrrrrr... >< Danish cookies~~~ lol.. it's cheaper here.. about 3 sing dollars... for 50og... alot sia!!! haha.. love eating it.. =X looks alot right??? definitely more than those sold in sg supermart... and more!!!! wahahahaha


Also stocked up our food... haha.. bought chicken drumstick~~~ haha.. quite cheap... cheaper than breast meat infact... haha... but expiring soon so gotta finish it in a week... everyday eat one lor.. =X oh... and ham is super cheap too.. one pack of think 250 grams cost like maybe 1.50 sgd... wahahahaha~

Tried to baked the drumstick yesterday... the way my group did for the dinner during intro week... but somehow the taste is not the same.. and it seems a bit dry.... maybe cos not enuf chicken ba... (since we bake 2 nia..)

so.. i tried again this time! with some innovation.. added cheese~~~ (yeah i'm a cheese freak.. lol)

Finally... the baked chicken~~ tasted ok.. somehow the spices taste is quite light... -.- but it looks nice... right??? :D


oh.. just as i'm on the topic of kitchen... my pan got stolen~~ grrr.... though it's cheap.. but still angry... and.... the A*******s in my container don't wash their utensils again!!! disgusting!!! though it's washed today(dunno if they did it) but it seems like they only wash it once a week... what the hell?!!?!? disgusting freaks... really lucky there's no xiao qiangs(cockroaches) here.... lol...

Trip to Ikea....

Thursday:

Morning lessons today... Told Chiao Luan (Another Singaporean for exchange in DTU from NTU - hey.. reply D by N and u get NTU! =X) that we will be going to IKEA... She's ok with going together so we decided to make a trip there... well... was having a lesson (Digital comms) before that... and was kinda stuck at doing mathlab(i hate it!!).... haha so got delayed for the trip... :(

Well came back from databar(like our com lab)... cooked lunch and changed and we went to look for Chiao Luan(CL) to go to IKEA... it was a long journey there... haha.. in total we walked for an hour before reaching... and well got lost somewhere in the middle... and CL asked for direction and luckily we were directed to the right place... was a little doubtful of the direction given by the old lady.. (Sorry!! :)) haha...

So as every Tourist should do... we took photos when we reach there!! haha.. Kinda weird since got people cycling pass us.. =X

haha... yeah.. Ant have been saying that the common pan we use is a bit dirty and charred.. so we decided to get a new one (if it's cheap...)

Just entered IKEA and walked a bit... and well... guess what we saw???



Ikea Hotdog!!!! haha... of course... how could a trip to Ikea be complete without an Ikea hotdog?? lol... and it's pretty cheap too! ice cream at 5dkk and hotdogs too! with is about... 1.20 sgd ba... for Denmark this is REAL cheap.. hehe... so here's what i got...

Well the danish IKEA is pretty much like our Singapore one... so it just feels like walking through our own IKEA... (just that around us are all angmohs la..)

Finally we reach the kitchen section.. and found the cheap pans~~~ haha... got one non stick pan at 49 DKK... that's abt... 14 sgd maybe?? pretty cheap ba...

i also bought a laungry bag at 29 bucks... hehe.. looks quite nice... :) i tot i took blue.. but it's actually purple.. but.. nevermind la.. =X

Each of us bought something... so well.. quite worth the trip ba..(console myself...) lol

after IKEA... we went Toy'r'Us... due to request by CL... LOL... nothing to do just walk around lor.. haha! didn't take us much time though... then we started walking back... drop by mac which is just beside... a meal here cos about 60dkk... which is like...17 sgd!!! omg... no mac for me in Denmark then...:(

Friday:

Well... been watching anime whole day... yes i really mean WHOLE day... lol... quite lerthagic and not really have work to do...

well highlight for today is actually the Sommerfest... a party in DTU... and i really mean party!! haha... basically a few tents are set up in DTU... each tent is different playing different music... and u get people dancing and drunk in it... hear there's this bull machine(those in movie where u see in bars american always go sit on it one...) haha... quite high sia... as i've said... NUS only have mugging party... never such party one.. =X

Saturday:

What did i do today?? well... planning for my December trip!!!! yes!! whole day!!! haha... but at least it is done... will be doing a 11 day trip to Paris->Venice->Rome->Naples->Prague... had a hard time planning... will try to confirm things asap then can book le.. just in case tickets run out again.. lol... still got one more aurora trip... hope can settle soon too!! lol




Well.. one thing about living together... alot of problems... so many people living under one roof... there will be no problems if everyone will just clear their own shit.......

Yes... some of the people in the container never clean up..(dun wanna say from which country...) it was there the whole day yesterday... i'm so glad there's no cockroaches in Denmark.. or else.... sure die...

it was only cleared today... and well.. got another pile after this pile is cleared up... can't they just like wash after they eat?!?! i hate inconsiderate people... grrrr.... well this notice was up a few days ago...

School Starts.... :(

Didn't do much for Saturday and Sunday... been running around alot for the last week so decided to just rest in for the weekends... haha... did some shopping and stuffs and went back to room to slack... hehe~!!

School's starting on monday so a bit sianz... but well... it will start somehow someday... :(

anyway this shall be a summary of the few days of activities...LOL

Monday:

1st lesson in DTU... Digital communications... well the lecture hall is pretty run down... a bit old kind.. haha! will upload pics when i get hold of it... =X lecturer wise... quite an old guy... tries to be interesting.. have a few jokes.. but Z monsters still got me... no choice la... really really boring.. =X hehe... but after the lecture then i realise there's so much i dunno... seems like a mad rush.. sudden influx of all the info.. stress... and well according to the lecturer.. the usually passing rate for this module is 50%....(except last year which is 85%) *cross fingers* hope i'll pass... haha!!!

Tuesday:

More lessons... is pretty sianz about this lesson cos the course name is called : Introduction to Industrial and environmental Management... yeah... thinking course.. ma chiam ctw... hahah! but well.. it turn out quite ok... lecturer was pretty interesting and this course focus on trying to get students to role play as engineering consultant for the environment protection agency(EPA) to give them advice on how to improve things etc... haha.. formed a team of 6 with a korean girl and 3 danish students... had some discussion about some questions.. one big difference between the danish and us... they are good at group work.. haha.. quite a nice experience working with them so far... :)

Stove was spoilt... so.. well.. only managed to cook at the other group of Singaporean's place... sigh... but well.. it'll be fixed soon... hopefully.. haha!

Wednesday:

Which is today... =X have a full day lessons today... so sianz... and have to pack lunch... talked abt making toast and bring to sch yesterday nite... and when i woke up.. Anthony made the toast le... LOL so nice.. wahahaha.. i can sleep somemore..=x (yeah the stove is fixed...)

Today's lesson.. Power Electronics... sounds ok.. but 1st few hours i'm pretty much stoning.. no the lecturer is good.. just that im stoning.. haha! oh.. and the Lecturer here is damn nice... he actually managed to find sponsorship and bought a textbook for ALL OF US!! omg... the textbook will cost us 900DKK... which is abt 200+ SGD!!! how nice can he be?!?! haha.. and he was also very patient and nice to explain things we dun understand to ask.. like after class i asked him a damn stupid and easy qns..(only realised that after i ask..) and he was nice enough to not niao me or anything... =X

Well... during lunch time.. me and Anthony sat outside the lecture hall there.. (got a few table and seats) and started eating our toast... i was telling him that i felt like a 穷书生... haha!!

Lessons continue after lunch.. supposedly will end at 5pm... and it ended at 2pm...=X damn nice... haha! can rest more~~(and finish blogging..)

Now waiting for time to go cook dinner.. gonna try fried rice today!! haha.. =X

Last day of Introduction week...

Finally after one week of orientation..(although not as xiong as NUS orientation) Everything is ending.. haha.. quite tired after one week of running around... :)

Anyway.. today was an easy day.. nothing much in the programmes... just lots of lectures... haha.. there's a lecture on Danish culture in the morning.. i was kinda late... and well, was dozing off so decided to skip it during the break... hehehehe...=x

3 more lectures after that... erm.. one on intro to Danish course...(forgot everything already..) one more on studying methods in DTU..(basically lots of project work..) and finally... a talk on how to use the library facilities... well i must say... DTU library is quite good... here to look for a book u want.. there's a system just like the opac system in National Library.. so basically u just log on and search, and u will know if the book is available.. if it is, u can request the book online, and collect it after the librarian send u an email... If the book u want is borrowed.. u can request for it... and if it's overdued, the librarian will request it back from the holder... in DTU u can hold the books u borrowed for 4 weeks, and 6 more mths after that if no one request for it... how cool is that??!?!

After the lectures.. i met up with my group.. and went to take the ingredients... each grp is assigned a certain food and we are supposed to cook it for the dinner later... my group was assigned some chicken... with parika and pepper and salt.. just throw into the oven and tada!!! it's done.. LOL!! Well while waiting for the chicken to be cooked... we sat down by the dining table.. and found a stack of cards... with a totem like thing... and guess what that is....????

haha... mr carrotcak should know what it is.. so yeah.. we started playing... however... it's alot milder than in sg... as in.. all of us weren't as crazy as the time i played in sg.. =X



Well... dinner was not bad... i liked the chicken we made alot.. hahah!! nice~~

in midst of the dinner, they announced the results for the highest score group for the events...(tower building and scavenger hunt..) and yeah.. we got 1st... wahahahah.. kinda expecting it... lol since our tower is the best..=X

Lakrids.... haha.. it's a danish sweet i think and well.. i DIDN'T LIKE IT...=X it is salty... and has a very weird taste... and it's black!!! kinda taste like the jellybean(carrotcak shld know..) just that it's salty... yikes~~~

After the dinner... it's.... MORE PARTIES!!! they actually turned the hall into a disco(a bit like our tj prom night.. but got beer etc la..) but well.. i was really tired from the partying and drinking.. so decided to give it a miss.. and went back to hostel... hehe...

3rd day of introduction....

Today is supposed to be an optional day.. we are given 3 choices...

1) Go to Carlsberg Brewery

2) Go to a castle (Frederiksborg Slot)

3) Play Soccer at DTU

So... i don't play soccer.. so number 3's out... i don't drink much... so i guess number 1 is out too..(going to Carlsberg entitles u to 2 jugs of beer there, free of charge..)

So yeah... i went to the Castle... haha...

It was at quite an ulu place... have to take the train from Lyngby all the way to the end... and then from the end Station, we have to walk abt 15 to 20 mins to reach the town...

The moment we walk to the town square, there's a statue standing in the middle, with a big lake behind it... That's the Statue of the King, King Christian IV... Well, according to the guide... he loved building castles and he built quite a few... one of them is Frederiksborg Slot... Click the link to read a little more about the Palace...

Well, the Castle really look pretty magnificent when i was across the lake.. quite a nice scenery i must say... big lake.. and a castle behind it...

We took a stroll by the lake..(me and my friends are busy snapping pictures and lost track of where the group went..=X) and slowly approach the Castle.. it was a pretty long walk before we finally reach the main entrance... On reaching the main entrance, a fountain greeted up and i must say.. another nice sight with the castle just behind the fountain.. haha...

After some snapping of photos here and there (we are tourists!! what u expect!?!), we purchased a ticket(50DKK!!!) to go into the National History Museum... It's been housed in this castle since 1878 and it illustrates the Danish history from 1500 until present day...

The Museum is big.. spanning 3 floors... but i guess this is where my excitement starts to wear off... I guess it's due to the fact that i do not have much knowledge of the Danish history..(only know they fought quite a lot of wars.. conquered alot of places.. including UK... were the vikings... and finally start to lose their territories in later wars..)

After walking 2 floors.. i started to get a bit bored and well... tired from all the walking.. haha... Well so the 3rd floor was kinda rushed thru... hehe... After the Museum.. we went to the Garden of the Castle... it is very big and from a room within the castle, u can view the whole majestic Garden... However the camera angle was bad and it was being blocked so i can't take pictures of it... the hedges in the Garden forms a shape of a crown(Danish logo..) which seems very obvious as seen from the castle...

But well.. when we went to the garden..(another 10 mins walk) it started to rain.. so didn't really see much... anyway... when u are there it just feels like another park.. have to see thru the room to have the majestic feeling.. haha!



After touring the castle.. the guide wanted to go for some coffee and chat probably... but well.. few of us felt like going back.. haha.. so we drop by the supermarket on our way back to buy some stuffs... hehe! =X

After a whole day of walking around... both of us are damn tired and we decided to treat ourselves to...... PIZZAS!!! haha... there's a pizzaria in DTU... opened by some Turkish guy so we decided to give it a try.. 120DKK for 2 pizza(pretty big) and a 1,5l cola... he gave us a choice between 1.5l cola or 5 cans cola... since each can is 330ml... 5 cans == 1650ml!!! so of course cans la.. haha... Singaporean spirit!!! =X On seeing that there's 2 of us.. the friendly Turkish guy decided to throw in one more.. making it 6 cans so we can divide... how nice!!!! hahahaha...

Though it doesn't look very good... i must say it taste quite nice actually!!! haha... they are DTU Special and Lyngby Special.. lol... Maybe can go back some other time to try others when we are too busy to cook! hhe!
